At Steinmetz Medical, our board-certified family practice physicians are not focused on just treating disease; we treat the whole patient.
Our physicians listen closely to patients during new visits that typically last an hour, asking questions about all aspects of their lifestyle to create a complete picture. Our integrative approach combines conventional and complementary therapies to facilitate healing for acute and chronic conditions.
Since 1997, Steinmetz Center for Integrative Medicine has emphasized nutrition, exercise and lifestyle adjustments for optimum health. We use approaches that are backed by proven research and studies. Our services include:
Why Choose Us
We are a Primary care practice that takes an integrative approach to healthcare.
Our integrative approach bridges the cultural divide between conventional Western medicine with Eastern techniques. We use only the best practices from both approaches to medical care, all of which are backed by proven research and studies or historical traditions. Our board-certified family practice physicians can offer patients conventional treatments, as well as acupuncture, nutritional supplements and herbs, homeopathy and osteopathic manipulation. Our practice founder, Dr. Marie Steinmetz is a leader in the field by working with local medical schools, hospitals and physician organizations. Additionally, we are linked to a network of both conventional specialists and complementary practitioners to assure you receive the highest quality treatments if you need to be referred to another clinician for specialized care.
We offer a rare breadth of training found at few other medical practices.
Our physicians are board certified in family practice who have extensive training in complementary treatments such as homeopathy and herbal medicine. They are accredited and certified to perform acupuncture, which is helpful for a variety of conditions, including chronic pain and infertility.

We take our time.
Unlike most primary care physicians who see more than 25 patients a day, our doctors limit their daily consultations to eight to 16 patients. That’s because we believe outstanding medical care is achieved only when a doctor takes time to listen to patients. Even the simplest complaint can be a sign of serious illness that might be overlooked in a quick visit. And no two patients are alike—even if they have the same disease. We typically spend an hour with each new patient and annual physicals, asking detailed questions about all aspects of their lifestyle to create a complete picture of the patient. That interview helps us to tailor a treatment plan for you, based on your unique needs.
We focus on prevention of disease.
We take time to educate our patients about the best ways to restore and maintain optimal health. We emphasize nutrition, exercise and lifestyle adjustments to prevent illness and to minimize the need for medical interventions as much as possible.
What Patients Are Saying . . .
I have a number of potentially serious health issues for which I also am compelled to have a number of “specialty” doctors who deal exclusively with these issues but Dr. Steinmetz oversees and coordinates all the treatments for which I am extremely grateful.
She is the one ultimately looks at me as an individual and who works with me to establish a treatment plan that takes into account who I am and what is best for ME.
I can’t emphasize enough the personal attention all patients receive from the extremely capable office staff to the nurses and certainly from the doctors themselves. I feel comfortable when I leave the office that I have been heard and that whatever treatment plan has been established is one most conducive to my total health and well-being.”
Cindy C of Alexandria, VA
“I saw Dr. Rose, one of the M.D.’s at this practice. She is knowledgeable and competent, but more importantly she listens. Most doctors are too busy to hear you out and will instead tell you what they think your problem is, give you a pill within 10 minutes of seeing you, and tell you to come back in a few weeks. This practice takes a more thorough approach to medicine and health. Dr. Rose not only listened, but answered questions I had and didn’t just go along with what other doctors did.
She is also friendly and does a great job of making you feel relaxed and able to discuss your care with her. A truly responsive, smart doctor. Thank you Dr. Rose!
I haven’t seen the other physicians here, but the staff her is also pleasant. The offices are also well-kept and clean. And they have a lab there that they can do some lab work on premises. They also have an online portal where you can do many things online or get information online. And they have an emergency after hours line if you need to reach them. A great place.”
Jeffrey W of Falls Church, VA
“A small gesture of thanks is inadequate in comparison to all you have done for me. You have compassion and a kind heart. God has gifted you and in turn blessed me, through that gift. Thank you for being my doctor, and thank you for your help and encouragement.
May God bless you always,”
P.G. of Annandale, VA
“Dr. Steinmetz, I was thinking of you today and thought I’d bounce you a quick note. I seem to have both feet underneath me again (*knock on wood*). No symptoms or issues. I honestly can’t thank you and everyone in the office enough for the care and kindness you all showed me. It means more than y’all will ever know. I look forward to seeing you again for a less stressful visit.”
Kim
“Thank you for your response and responsiveness. I don’t know that I want to ever work with a doc who doesn’t understand and make the investment in this type of vehicle–the patient portal. Truly, it allows me to manage my health effectively and in real-time partnership with you.”
