Dr Steinmetz’s approach to integrative family medicine is characterized by her commitment to looking at the “whole patient”–rather than treating and chasing after a constellation of symptoms. Her compassionate caring and empathy fuel her strong desire to heal each patient and restore him or her to not only good health, but “optimal wellness.” She considers herself a clinical investigator, gathering in-depth assessments of family history, lifestyle issues, and the practical, judicious use of leading edge medical testing, she partners with each patient to help them set their course to wellness.
Jeanne Willis Shiffman, MD, DABFM
Jeanne Willis Shiffman, MD was introduced to integrative medicine during her first year at Georgetown University School of Medicine by world renowned Dr. James Gordon, and she has been pursuing studies in the field ever since. Before Georgetown, Dr Shiffman worked for the federal government for over 6 years, and she brings these skills to her medical practice to help her patients get to the root of their problems. Dr Shiffman likes to works with her patients as a team and is respectful of her patients’ ideas and goals.
Rosemarie Rose, MD, DABFM
Rosemarie Rose, MD has evolved her practice of medicine from traditional Family Medicine into an integrative, holistic framework over the last 20 years. She graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed her Family Medicine training at Fairfax Family Practice Residency Program. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. She is also licensed as a physician acupuncturist in Virginia.
Dr. Dorothy Polahar
Dr. Polahar holds a B.A. in German from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. She also has a Master’s of Science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she majored in Athletic Training Sports Medicine. While in medical school, Dorothy was selected for a rotation in Integrative Medicine through Dr. Weil’s program in Tucson, Arizona, and she organized a rotation to China to study Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Polahar completed her family practice residency through Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency. While in residency, she completed an Integrative Medicine in Residency program through the University of Arizona’s Center for Integrative Medicine. Dr. Polahar completed an acupuncture study course with Dr. Richard Hobbs.
