School of Medicine in 1979,
followed by a residency in Family Medicine
at the St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, graduating in

Dr. Clamp’s early professional experience centered on her private
practice in DuBois, Pennsylvania, in both family and emergency
medicine. Her work with Medical Mission led her to move to the
Washington, D.C., area to work for the Healthcare for the Homeless
Project caring for homeless women and children in several area
shelters. She established a clinic at the House of Ruth in northeast
Washington, and a prenatal care program for pregnant homeless women.
A few years later, she joined the faculty at the Georgetown University
School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine. She
focused on the Family Practice Residency Program, overseeing the OB/GYN
curriculum for the family medicine residents. To broaden the
residents’ experience and skills, she involved them in the care of low
income and homeless families at a local shelter clinic run by the
Community of Hope in northwest Washington.
In 1998, she joined Kaiser Permanente. The next year, she began
training in Medical Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine through the
UCLA Acupuncture for Physicians program taught by Joseph Helms, MD,
who has trained most physician acupuncturists in the United States.
She attained board certification in Medical Acupuncture in 2002
through the American Board of Medical Acupuncture. Further acupuncture
training included 5 Element Acupuncture, Korean Hand Acupuncture,
Auricular Acupuncture, Neuroanatomical Acupuncture, Chinese Scalp
Acupuncture, and Balance Method Acupuncture.
Dr. Clamp is a certified Usui Reiki Master and Teacher and a certified
Sechem Seichem Reiki Master and Teacher. Her interest in other
alternative modalities to promote health and wellbeing led her to
study Chinese Herbal Medicine, which she uses in treating her
Integrative Medicine patients. Currently, she is studying using Bach
Flower Remedies and other homeopathic and energetic modalities of
treatment.
When not
practicing Integrative Medicine, Dr. Clamp is a stained and fused
glass artist, a potter and a master needleworker. She plays a mean

Kate
Lemmerman,
M.D.
Kate Lemmerman,
M.D. is board certified in family medicine and is a
member of the Ameri
can Academy of Medical Acupuncture.
Recognizing
that there was much more to the healing process than
diagnosing and treating symptoms, Dr. Lemmerman continued
her training beyond medical school to study integrative
and alternative approaches to healing , including
acupuncture and osteopathic manipulative medicine. Dr.
Lemmerman treats a broad range of patients suffering from
acute and chronic pain and illness. Dr. Lemmerman has
developed an expertise in identifying and treating
patients with hormonal imbalances, insulin resistance,
hypoglycemia, pre-menstrual problems, menopausal changes,
polycystic-ovary syndrome, and hypothyroidism. In
addition to her clinical work, she served as the medical
editor for the successful self-care text, “Living Well
with Hypothyroidism” by Mary Shomon, which describes, from
a patient’s perspective, the experience of discovering and
managing this complex disorder.
In addition to
addressing the hormonal imbalances of her patients through
the use of traditional and alternative means such as
herbal remedies and natural hormone replacements, Dr.
Lemmerman has been particularly successful in using
osteopathic manipulation to help women suffering from
painful menstrual cramps, tail-bone pain, and chronic pain
and discomfort associated with sexual intercourse.
A graduate of
Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey and Rush
Medical College in Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Lemmerman
completed her residency in family medicine at the
University of Connecticut where she received the “Golden
Pacifier Award” for excellence in pediatrics. She was
trained in acupuncture at the University of California’s
Los Angeles School of Medicine Extension in 1990 and
serves as a clinical preceptor for students at Georgetown
University School of Medicine.
